How to Connect WhatsApp to Gemini for Your Business
The short answer
Gemini can't sit on your business's WhatsApp number, but with one custom connected app it can sign you up for an assistant that does, and set it up for you. That assistant is Conciergr, and the address Gemini needs is https://conciergr.com/mcp. Gemini calls these custom connected apps; underneath, each one is an MCP server, which is simply an address an AI app uses to work with another service.

- Copy the prompt above.
- Paste it into Gemini. Start a new chat on gemini.google.com.
- Add the connected app in a web browser. Open Settings, then Connected Apps (look under Personal Intelligence if you don't see it), then Custom. The screen is titled "Connect to an MCP server". Paste the address, leave Additional settings alone and press Next. Google's help page (read 1 November 2026) says custom apps can only be connected on the web, and work on the phone app afterwards.
- Sign in and approve. Conciergr's page opens and calls the app "Google". That's Gemini. Use your business email and connect it.
- Tell it your business name. Gemini asks before it acts: press Allow once.
- Add your card on Stripe's page, in the same browser. Only you can do this, and nothing is charged during the 30-day trial.
- Connect your WhatsApp number in Meta's window, on the phone with your WhatsApp Business app.
- Let it set everything up. It learns your business from what it can reach, then asks a few questions at a time for the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can add a custom connected app to Gemini?
Google's help page "Connect & manage custom apps for Gemini Apps" (read 1 November 2026) asks for someone 18 or over and in the US, signed in with a personal Google account (not work or school), with Keep Activity on, using Gemini in English. It names no paid plan. Our own run worked from Singapore on a personal account with Google AI Ultra, so try it. That is one account, and the plan may have mattered. If you don't see Custom, these requirements are the likely reason.
I don't see Custom. Is there another way in?
Look for Connected Apps directly. If it still isn't there, your account probably doesn't qualify, so use another AI app. Anthropic's help page sets no region limit for Claude and covers every plan.
Will Gemini answer my customers on WhatsApp?
No. Conciergr's assistant answers them. A connected Gemini can do what you can do in your portal, but it cannot send messages to your customers, take a payment or connect a number.
Should I let Gemini read my customer chats?
Check your Gemini data settings first. Custom apps need Keep Activity on, and a connected Gemini can read chats if you ask, so decide whether that suits your customers' messages.
