How to Connect WhatsApp to ChatGPT for Your Business
The short answer
You can't put ChatGPT itself on your business's WhatsApp number, but you can have ChatGPT set up an assistant that answers there. Conciergr is that assistant: it replies to your customers on your own number, from a Google Sheet and a Google Doc you keep. ChatGPT is the one who signs you up, builds those documents and changes settings later, once you add Conciergr to it as a custom MCP server. An MCP server is simply an address an AI app uses to work with another service. Ours is https://conciergr.com/mcp.
We ran the prompt below in ChatGPT on 1 November 2026. It reached Stripe's card page, where we stopped.

The prompt to paste into ChatGPT
The steps
- Copy the prompt above.
- Paste it into ChatGPT. Start a new chat, in the app or on the web.
- Add Conciergr on chatgpt.com, in a web browser. Open Plugins, press Add, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Conciergr, paste the address, keep Authentication on OAuth, tick "I understand and want to continue" and press Create as a plugin. OpenAI's help page (read 1 November 2026) says this works on the web only, so a phone user needs a browser for this one step.
- Sign in and approve. Conciergr's page opens. Use your business email and connect ChatGPT.
- Tell it your business name. ChatGPT may ask you to allow the action: press Allow.
- Add your card on Stripe's page. Only you can do this, and nothing is charged during the 30-day trial.
- Connect your WhatsApp number in Meta's window, on the phone with your WhatsApp Business app.
- Let it set everything up. It learns your business from what it can reach, then asks a few questions at a time for the rest.
Your assistant stays paused until you say to switch it on. Prices are on the pricing page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will ChatGPT answer my customers on WhatsApp?
No. Conciergr's assistant answers them. A connected ChatGPT can do what you can do in your portal, such as change settings and read what's waiting for you, but it cannot send messages to your customers, take a payment or connect a number.
Which ChatGPT plan do I need?
Pro, Business or Enterprise/Edu, going by OpenAI's help page. That page "Connecting custom MCP servers in ChatGPT" (read 1 November 2026) lists full custom MCP connections for Business and Enterprise/Edu, and says Pro users can connect custom servers with read and fetch permissions. Our own run, on a Pro account, completed the signup as far as Stripe's page; later changes on Pro are untested. The page doesn't list Plus or Free. On a Business workspace, only admins and owners can add one.
ChatGPT says it can't find the signup action. What now?
If you connected Conciergr before, ChatGPT keeps the list of actions from that first connection. In Settings, open Plugins, then Conciergr, and press Refresh tools, then try again. On a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin does this.
Should I let ChatGPT read my customer chats?
Check your data settings first. OpenAI's "Apps in ChatGPT" page (read 1 November 2026) says that on Free, Plus, Go and Pro, it may use information accessed from apps to train its models if "Improve the model for everyone" is on. Turn that off before you ask ChatGPT to read chats.
How do I stop ChatGPT using Conciergr?
Press Disconnect next to it in your Conciergr portal. It stops at once.
Do you have this for other AI apps?
Yes: Claude, Gemini, Grok, your dot in ChatGPT and Meta's Muse. All of them are on the AI assistants page.
Conciergr answers your enquiries in seconds, around the clock, from documents you own, and your team keeps using WhatsApp exactly as before. Sign up by pasting one prompt into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini; you add the card and connect WhatsApp yourself, and the first 30 days are free.
